Panasonic is positioning its thick-film current sensing resistors as a cost-effective alternative to metal shunts for low- and medium-current applications, combining accuracy, thermal stability, reliability and cost control. The Japanese company is targeting use cases where current measurement must remain precise and robust without driving up bill-of-materials costs.
The devices are aimed in particular at AI infrastructure, industrial robotics and battery management systems (BMS), areas where demand for current sensing is rising alongside the growth of AI, automation and energy storage. Panasonic’s pitch is that its thick-film technology can meet the performance requirements of these applications while offering a more economical option than traditional metal shunt solutions.
