French proptech startup WeMaintain has been acquired by the American elevator and escalator giant Otis Worldwide Corporation. The deal, for an undisclosed sum, marks a significant exit for the Paris-based company, which had raised approximately €30 million since its founding in 2017.
WeMaintain developed a digital platform and service model to modernize the maintenance of elevators and other building equipment. Its system connects building owners and managers directly with certified, independent technicians, aiming to increase transparency, efficiency, and service quality while reducing costs. The startup had expanded its operations to the UK and Singapore.
For Otis, a global leader with a market capitalization of nearly $40 billion, the acquisition is a strategic move to integrate innovative digital solutions and a disruptive service model into its traditional business. The purchase allows Otis to directly absorb WeMaintain's technology, operational know-how, and its team, which will continue to operate under its own brand as a subsidiary.
The founders, Benoît Dupont, Tristan Foureur, and Jade Francine, expressed that joining Otis provides the scale and resources to accelerate their mission of transforming building maintenance globally. The transaction underscores the growing convergence between traditional industrial giants and agile tech startups in the proptech and facility management sectors.
