Kyocera has developed a pluggable optical module compatible with the PCIe 6.0 standard, a move aimed at addressing the surging computational demands of AI data centers. The Japanese electronics giant created the module in partnership with Taiwanese startup AuthenX.
The new module, built in the OSFP-XD form factor, is designed to deliver high data transfer rates while reducing power consumption and increasing flexibility for data center infrastructure. This development responds directly to the exponential growth in AI-related computing needs, which require faster and more efficient interconnects between servers, storage, and accelerators.
The partnership leverages AuthenX's expertise in high-speed interface technology to achieve compatibility with the latest PCI Express 6.0 specification.
