Israel's Tech Ecosystem: A U.S. Capital Stronghold, Largely Bypassed by European VCs
Israel's technology sector demonstrated formidable strength in 2025, raising $15.6 billion in funding while exit activity soared to $74 billion. A landmark deal within this total was Google's $32 billion acquisition of cybersecurity firm Wiz. The cybersecurity vertical alone attracted $4.4 billion across 130 funding rounds.
Despite this vibrant activity, a striking pattern emerges in the capitalization tables: the ecosystem is overwhelmingly dominated by American venture capital. European VCs are conspicuously absent from most major deals, effectively making Israel a preserved hunting ground for U.S. investors.
This dominance is not new but has intensified. American funds possess deeper pockets, a higher tolerance for risk aligned with Israel's startup culture, and established networks that European firms struggle to match. The geographic and cultural proximity to the U.S., coupled with a shared business ethos, further cements this pipeline. Consequently, while European capital flows elsewhere, Israel's most promising tech companies continue to be funded, scaled, and exited primarily through American financial channels.
