MagREEsource has launched its first pilot line for short-loop recycling and additive manufacturing of rare earth magnets. The startup is building production capabilities to manufacture high-performance, 4D-printed sintered magnets, leveraging patented technologies developed from 30 years of R&D at the Neel Institute - CNRS.
The core innovation stems from research on the selective interactions of hydrogen with rare earth-based materials. This scientific foundation enables MagREEsource's proprietary processes for both recycling end-of-life magnets and producing new ones via additive manufacturing. The pilot line represents a critical step in scaling these technologies, aiming to create a circular, domestic supply chain for strategic permanent magnets used in electric vehicles, wind turbines, and electronics.
