French startup Osmose is launching a premium subscription service that repurposes underutilized hotel spaces into daytime private clubs for remote workers and professionals. The model targets the hospitality industry's low daytime occupancy rates, offering hotels a new revenue stream while providing members with high-end workspaces and amenities.
For €99 per month, Osmose members gain access to a curated network of 4- and 5-star hotel lobbies, lounges, and co-working areas from 8 AM to 6 PM on weekdays. Key perks include reliable high-speed Wi-Fi, complimentary tea and coffee, and discounted rates on hotel services like spa treatments and dining. The company emphasizes a "club" atmosphere over traditional co-working, focusing on tranquility and premium service rather than networking events.
Osmose has already partnered with approximately fifteen hotels in Paris, including establishments from groups like Marriott and Hilton. Founder Paul-Henri Bresson identified the opportunity after observing empty luxury hotel spaces during daytime hours, while demand for quality remote work locations surged. "Hotels are empty 60-70% of the time during the day. We fill that void with a community seeking calm and comfort," Bresson stated.
The startup differentiates itself from conventional co-working spaces by avoiding crowded open-plan offices and instead leveraging the existing infrastructure and service standards of high-end hotels. For hotel partners, Osmose handles all operational aspects, including member management and access systems, in exchange for a revenue share.
Following a €1 million pre-seed funding round, Osmose plans to expand to 50 partner hotels in Paris within a year before targeting other major French cities and eventually European capitals. The service officially launches in June 2024, with early registrations already open.
