Audion, a French startup specializing in contextual audio advertising, has raised €13 million from Elevation Capital Partners, Founders Future, and Bpifrance to accelerate its development, particularly in the U.S. market. Founded in 2018, the company has built a platform that optimizes audio ad delivery by analyzing contextual data—such as the listener’s location, current weather, and time of day—to serve more relevant campaigns.
The platform operates at the crossroads of programmatic advertising and digital audio, tapping into fast-growing channels like podcasts, streaming services, and smart speakers. By bringing granular, real-time targeting to audio, Audion enables brands to reach consumers with context-sensitive messages that go beyond broad demographic segments.
This funding round will be used to establish a commercial presence in the United States, including hiring local teams, setting up an office, and securing partnerships with audio publishers and ad networks. The investment also funds continued R&D to enhance the platform’s contextual intelligence. Backing from Bpifrance underscores the startup’s solid domestic roots, while the venture capital firms signal confidence in Audion’s ability to capture a share of a global audio ad market that is increasingly shifting toward programmatic, data-driven inventory.
