France has launched a major seven-year, €51 million research program focused on advancing cloud technologies, funded through the France 2030 investment plan. The initiative is scientifically co-led by the French Alternative Energies and Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) and the National Institute for Research in Digital Science and Technology (Inria), operating under the new "Digital, Algorithms, and Software" program agency.

The program's core objectives are to deliver significant breakthroughs in the performance, security, and energy efficiency (frugality) of cloud infrastructure and services. A key emphasis is placed on ensuring the transfer of innovative solutions from the research phase directly to industry, aiming to strengthen France's technological sovereignty and competitiveness in the cloud computing sector.

Co-piloté scientifiquement par le CEA et Inria dans le cadre de la nouvelle agence de programmes « Numérique, algorithmes et logiciels » et doté d’une enveloppe budgétaire de 51 millions d’euros sur 7 ans financée par France 2030, le programme de recherche sur les technologies du cloud a pour objectif de proposer des avancées significatives sur la performance, la sécurité et la frugalité des infrastructures et services de cloud tout en mettant l’accent sur le transfert des solutions innovantes issues de la recherche vers l'industrie.
