British distributor Anglia Components has signed a pan-European agreement with Norway's Nanopower Semiconductor to market a technology that reduces energy consumption in connected IoT devices by up to 90%. This deal will bring Nanopower's ultra-low-power solutions to the European market, significantly extending battery life and efficiency for IoT applications.
Anglia Components, one of Europe’s oldest independent distributors of electronic components, has signed a pan-European distribution agreement with Norwegian fabless semiconductor firm Nanopower Semiconductor. The deal will make available a technology that cuts power consumption in connected devices by up to 90%, directly tackling the battery-life bottleneck in large-scale IoT deployments.
Nanopower’s proprietary ultra-low-power integrated circuits exploit subthreshold operation — running transistors at voltages below the typical turn-on threshold — to achieve dramatically lower sleep and active currents. This allows wireless sensors, wearables, and edge devices to operate for years on a single coin cell or harvested ambient energy. The announcement comes as demand surges for maintenance-free, energy-autonomous IoT endpoints in industrial monitoring, smart buildings, asset tracking, and healthcare.
Under the agreement, Anglia will stock Nanopower’s complete product portfolio and offer full engineering support, from evaluation kits to design-in services, across the European Economic Area. The move broadens Anglia’s power-efficient semiconductor lineup and extends Nanopower’s reach beyond its Nordic stronghold, leaning on Anglia’s established logistics network, local FAE teams, and long-standing customer relationships.
“Ultra-low energy consumption is critical for the next wave of connected devices, and Nanopower’s technology is a genuine step-change for our customers designing battery-constrained or energy-harvested products,” said an Anglia spokesperson. A Nanopower representative emphasized that Anglia’s technical competence and regional footprint will accelerate adoption of its chips in volume applications. The distribution agreement takes effect immediately and covers all EU/EEA markets plus the UK.
